Hmm, thanks for suggesting Wilsonart I found their page with gold laminate... looks very nice but now that I think of it may look too... too... well, a bit like an appliance?? hehe, I think some good gold paint might be the key.

rosco
find a local theatre supplier of rosco stuff and tell them what you want to do , im almost certain theyll find an appropriate product, be it paint /film whatever. stuff in the theatre/film industry will do what it says it will do, the paint etc is very high quality, and not cheap. :o

BFAUSKA  are you there? ;)
used anything you can recommend?

bfauska:

I am.

I saw some gold contact paper in our prop shop recently.  I haven't used it and don't know where it's from but it would look like metal if it was applied smooth enough.  I think it would be critical that it be very smooth and it would probably prove difficult to apply well, it was very thin.

I am working at a different place for the off season otherwise I could thumb through the swatch books by my desk for various material recommendations.  I agree that Rosco probably has something, or GAM, or Lee.  If you find a theatrical supply company they should have some suggestions, I would worry that they would be fairly thin and that makes the surface and the application of the product very critical.  The Wilsonart laminate may be the best option.  They have a full line of metal look laminates that would apply and machine just like normal laminate.  Here is the page at their site

This page  seems like the most appropriate Rosco products, they are fairly small for arcade cabinet work though.
