| Good List of Beginner Parts from New Cab Example? |
| (1/3) > >> |
| GAtekwriter:
In the Examples section (Stand Up Cabs), there's been a new addition. This company builds and sells these custom cabs and have provided a parts list and options list. http://killerarcades.blogspot.com/ My questions: 1. Are the basic components listed fairly acceptable for a DIY cabinet? If I mimic using these parts, will my cab be a solid, functional 2-player cab for most games? 2. Are there any parts listed in the basic components that you feel should be replaced? If so, with what? 3. Any of the optional components worth investigating further? Thanks in advance for any opinions you wish to share. I don't want this to turn into a debate - I can search and find those elsewhere. I'm just wanting to make certain I haven't missed any components that might not get enough attention and should be considered for my cab. Thanks, All. Jim |

Basic parts list but no encoder is listed. |

Regarding the optional components, they are definitely worth investigating further IF you are interested in/need them. Do you want to play trackball, spinner, or lightgun games? Do you like the look of lighted buttons? (check the CP database post for some examples) Do you like the look/feel of balltops vs bat handles? etc... That list of basic vs add-on components seems appropriate to me in general. |

Changes to the basics Replace the Happ Supers with Happ Competitions. Random game button is not necessary. Encoder card(s) needed to interface with computer Gota Have options Trackball 4-way joystick Cup Holders Nice but not necessary options Spinner (could be a gota have) Coin Door Cabinet Door Lock (should be a standard item) BLING options Translucent buttons with LEDs (additional control card may be desired) Glowing Joysticks Glowing Trackball (not listed but is an option) Custom Artwork True Arcade Monitor (only if you really want one) The basics are covered with this cab. For each player you need a joystick, 6 game buttons, 1 credit and 1 start button. These same buttons will also be used if a trackball and/or a spinner are added. The admin buttons listed are the most common used (quit, start. pause) The next game and random game buttons are dependant upon the front end used. Look over some of the compleated projects in the projects forum to get an idea on how to proceed from this point. TTFN  Kaytrim |
