EDIT: Guess I should say it's the State Troopers in NC who are ---Deutsche Frankfurters---.... City and County cops are much nicer..

Agreed on that point. I've got a Raleigh cop and a Durham cop for friends. Both of 'em nice guys. Ticket came from a trooper. The Raleigh cop buddy even says troopers are ---Deutsche Frankfurters---, although for not participating in what I see to be dishonest - looking the other way or issuing a warning when pulling over a "fellow officer of the law".
Meh...it if weren't for my buddies, according to whatever the state law in NC is, I'd have had to PAY an ADDITIONAL 11 bucks and add 2 weeks (minimum) for a copy of my driving record to be mailed back to me, after which time I'd then have to call the DMV up to get all this info sorted and figure out who to pay.
Yeah, check that. No need for a driver's license, but I've gotta pay $50 to reinstate something I never had, and to find out just what the heck was the issue, another $11. Mission, you ain't lyin' about it being a money racket.

I've gotten 2 tickets thrown out because the cop didn't show when I fought it. The key to success is to NEVER go to the first scheduled court date but instead call in an get an extension. Cops get their court dates scheduled all on a single day so they can go in and fight all those who are fighting their ticket. When you change that date it screws em all up and they, many times, don't appear. If the cop doesn't appear and you fight the ticket, you win (in most cases). w00t!
:woot

but as was posted above, in NC it really doesn't matter if you win or lose, you still have to pay the court fees... The fine is usually a couple of dollars... the court fees is about 90% of the total ticket cost...
