BYOAC & MAME statement discussion thread.

I'm actually not trying to spark a discussion here, but since it's come up more than once I thought some kind of official position from me on BYOAC and MAME was called for. Knowing how things go I figured a discussion thread might be prudent. I'd be just as happy if the topic got no responses, but if discussion is going to ensue please keep it civil :)

As much as I hate to admit this...MC that little statement is pure genius and it about sums it up.

Edit: I should also take this opportunity to thank John St. Clair in making it possible for all of us people to come together. This is an amazing community and I am very happy to be a part of it.

 to Saint & the rest of the BYOAC Crew!

MAMEDEVS make BYOAC possible...

I am probably reading too much into this, and am not trying to attack anybody, but...  I have to agree with Saint "BYOAC encompasses arcade controls, game console controllers (used on your PC, or arcade controls on your console), shareware and commercial game software (there are hundreds of excellent games out there that work well with arcade controls), jukeboxes, authentic arcade machines, and much much more."

Wanting to use arcade controls to play games makes BYOAC possible (or necessary.)  MAMEDEVS make MAME possible.  MAME is ONE fun thing to use your arcade controls with.  Thank you MAMEDEVS.

I could still build arcade controls and play with my joystick  >:D without MAME.  It would me much more difficult without BYOAC.

Both are great sites and projects, but I don't think either one is dependant on the other.

 now lets get back to enjoying them.
