Suggestion: A section for used cabinet restore tips & tricks
« on: April 02, 2007, 02:50:05 pm »
It has become pretty popular around here to pick up an old beater and restore it or mame it. I think there should be a wiki page full of restoration tips & tricks.
For instance,
What kind of cleaners and strippers to use.
How to clean boards/monitors/CPO/Marquee (without destroying them or killing yourself. ;))
Etc.

What do you all think?

I think it is a great idea, but don't have the time to write articles, so up until this point I've just amassed some links and dropped them in.

http://wiki.arcadecontrols.com/wiki/Restoration

I'd like to get them better organized and prefaced better and would love to see somebody write some actual articles for the page.

I have a few restoration/repair projects coming up.  I could probably take some pics and write a couple of very basic articles on the process, to be fleshed out with more details and such as time goes on and more minds contribute.

I could contribute a small write-up to stripping off painted over cabinets. There really isn't much to it, but is made ALOT easier and safer with the proper tools, stripping products and techniques.

That's a good one to start with.  Simple, easy to write up, but a beast if you try to tackle the task the wrong way.
