Replacement Lights For Coin Door (Galaga)
« on: April 01, 2007, 01:58:21 am »
I need to find 2 light bulbs to replace the lights that came with the galaga machine when I got it, they are burnt out, and I need some new ones. But I would like to get the exact ones, and just put them back in the same place via soldering them.  Anybody know where to get them?

Why would you want to solder coin door lights in place.... They fail all the time.... They should be fitted in a little push in lamp holder. Your machine sounds like it was modified. Soldered in coin door lights are certainly NOT original.

Soldered in sounds makeshift but if that is really the way get a 12V replacement led and never replace the bulb again.   Automotive lighting at Link.   I am assuming 12V.    If another voltage you can get other voltage leds or just calculate a resistor.

Galaga uses 12 volt wedge base lamps. Any of these numbers will work: # 194, #161, #658. The 194's and 161's are available at any auto parts store.

These bulbs merely push into the socket. The socket is soldered but not the bulb. Just grab the glass portion of the bulb and pull it straight out of the socket.

What I mean is that the wires are soldered to the the thing, not that the actual lights are soldered in place.

So do you need the lamp holders, too?  (confused)  If so, then here's one place, I'm sure theres more...

Strangely enough some amusement equipment does solder bulbs in to some locations. I remember the old big brown change machines having some soldered in bulbs.
