Photon, the original Laser Tag

ChadTower:

Holy crap I didn't know about that!  I must see this.  Any 80s movie with Anthony Edwards is cool in my book.  That's a lotta hair on that guy.

Why shouldn't you be able to block the sensor with a wall?  There's a wall in the way!

I had a friend with one of the cheap Laser Tag sets as a kid.  We played in the woods, pretty much because everything was either the road or the woods, and it didn't work very well.  Too many branches/trees to get a clear line of sight for the weak signal.  Too early for the technology.

Slightly off but I remember the Xmas I got a Gotcha gun... man were those things cheapass.  Third shot at my little brother and the internal spring shot out and it never worked again.

Because the helmet sensor was open to shots on all sides, if I remember correctly.  I'm absolutely certain that you could hit it easily from the front or the sides.  I guess you could hide in a box, but it was too easy to hide the vest/chest sensor just by standing against a wall and firing your own gun.  It gets old really fast when neither of you can hit each other.  I guess it got old pretty fast anyway.

I also had several Gotcha guns with their stupid ammo discs and pathetic plastic snotty bullets that only shot 10 feet.

I believe Splatmaster was a brand name or something.

ChadTower:

The worst part about the Gotcha guns was that they were like a freakin dollar a shot... those discs were expensive and IIRC not refillable.

KenToad:
Man, I must have watched Gotcha! the movie like 50,000 times on HBO in 1986, when our thumbs were too sore from trying to beat Kung Fu Master.

shorthair:
I remember this stuff, too. Didn't have either of 'em.  Did have a Gotcha gun - it was cheap - commercial magic made it look cool - it was for the movie came out after it was a hit. I was already in high school, so definitely a big draw of the movie was the older woman gig. Edwards' hair: yeah, look at him now.
