XBox/PS Wireless Fighting Stick
« on: February 28, 2007, 11:50:13 pm »

I picked one of these up from GameStop for $20.

It's wireless and contains an 8 way joystick and 10 buttons, and supports both XBox and Playstation.

Pros:
* Inexpensive
* Wireless
* Dual analog "sticks" (they actually look like trackballs, but function as analog sticks)
* Comfortable to use; just the right size

Cons:
* The button quality sucks
* Marginal joystick quality
* Battery compartment is external and stuck on the back of the unit; works, but aesthetically unpleasant

Planned Mods:
* Definitely replace all of the buttons with Happs
* I might replace the joystick if I can find one that will fit, the case is really shallow
* Move the battery compartment internal, and wire up a port for external charging
* Add a lexan overlay with graphics

Cost to mod: Perhaps $30

If you can, can you take pictures of the inside as I am interest in possibly using this to interface with my cp.

The last time this was posted, it was mod but there was no picture available.

Thx.

You know, since seeing the Acteck controllers on Retroblast, I've been interested in finding something like this just to check it out in person. Heard Pelican had something like it, but at least online - this includes gamestop, too - I can't find anything on these.

If you froogle "xbox fighting stick" you'll find several dealer, but they're all about $45-50.

I stopped at another Gamestop recently, and they had it for $20 as well.

I'll try and take some pics when I get it opened up.

I bought one of these, and they really aren't that good, looking at modding it.
Any of you had any successes yet?
Edit: I just cracked mine open, and the wiring looks some what complicated. The buttons are snap in buttons, and they pop out with relative ease. There was also this metal slab glued to the bottom of the box, it was probably to give some weight to it, but it seems really unnessicary. I would post up some pics, but my camera seems to be broken atm. The buttons have a pretty weird wiring setup going on. all of it is pretty weird.
