I just found an AWESOME webiste thanks to the folks over at woodworkingtalk.com.
Reconditionedsales.comThey are a licensed Hitachi and Freud resaler and sell reconditioned tools at a GREAT price. "Reconditioned" just means that the tool was used and returned, a display piece, a piece that was pulled from the assembly line for random testing, or a piece with a defect that was spotted during manufacturng. In order to be re-sold the entire tool needs to be re-examined and any issues at all must be fixed. However, since it is not in the original packaging it can NOT be sold as new. Because of this, you get the equivalent of a brand new tool for FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR below the price of a new one.
Earlier this week I picked up a Hitachi C12FCH 12" compound miter saw with laser guide. This thing is GREAT! Retail price is approximately $488.00 new, and I got mine for $201 including shipping. The miter saw is incredibly sturdy and cuts through wood like it's butter. Plus, with the laser guide all my cuts are ultra accurate. I've done a LOT of testing with weird angles and bevels, and they all come out great because of the laser guide and the fine tuning adjustments you can make.
In retrospect, I wish I picked up the version that has an LCD display on it which tells you the EXACT miter/bevel you're cutting at since it's only $20 more, but ah well. I'm just happy to have this miter saw after using a POS Harbor Freight saw I bought for $40.
