MAME and Linux
USSEnterprise:
Is there any current MAME port for Linux? Any good front ends? What linux is best for MAME?
tikbalang:
there is xmame, lincade, and i thinck advancemame live cd version. xmame is based on fedora core 6. i am hoping lincade would build for zenwalk. zenwalk is very simple to install and use, not resource hungry as major distros. it is based on slackware.
i tried advanceCD before and was disappointed. but that was before i had a good understanding about mame. it is a good mame distro, as long as "parent" roms are loaded.
u_rebelscum:
SDLmame
Howard_Casto:
Lots of support for mame itself, but not so much in the fe department. I'm thinking there's lemon launcher and two others (who's names escape me). None of them are as feature rich as those on the windows side of things.
Grasshopper:
FWIW, I've used AdvanceMAME under DOS (haven't tried the Linux version) and so far it's the best version of MAME I've tried. The killer feature is the ability to create your own video modes.
