I think the newer marquees look too busy. I think the starburst gradient could work, but I'm not sure about the earth photo. Maybe if you had a more simplified starfield similar to the CPO. You could even throw in the same earth graphic as the CPO or maybe a moon, black hole, etc.

The sideart could layout looks good, but I'm not sure it matches up with the rest yet.
Brevity is not my strong suit.

Yeah I'm gonna keep working on the Marquee when I come back to it.. I can definitely see where the busy-ness of the BG takes away from the focus on the logo...

As far as the sideart layout, I think it'll work... but I just have to make sure to use a similar color scheme and similar materials as the other work..

Here's a more detailed study of the suit of the pilot for the sideart.  This probably won't end up being the actual sideart lineart itself , but I'm trying to come up with a good "futuristic-looking yet military practical" suit...

It looks good so far.  I think that more armor and less fabric in the suit would be more in line with the idea of a pixel based cabinet.  I am looking at it from an abstract point of view but to me pixels=digital, plastic/metal body armor=digital, fabric=analog.  Also (and I may be a bit of a pig for saying it) if it's going to be a female arcade character maybe sexy her up a bit, sexy arcade characters are cool.

Good style and quality for sure, I just think you should take a look at those ideas for the content.

Well, admittedly, I'm going for a "New BSG's Starbuck" kinda look.. so I wanted to make her look rugged and battle experienced, while still keeping her femininity intact (her face and pose).  I'm not going for "sex object" as much as I'm going for "attractive tomboy"...   but I'll see what I can do there..


I will seriously consider the "digital vs analog" thing,  though... I like that bit..

I can dig that.  It may just be a matter of the pants being less baggy, either switching to a harder looking material or "taking them in" a bit.  I see what your saying though and by all means if you have a visual goal, go for it.

Yeah and changing the pants makes sense anyway, as the current pants doesn't at all go with the style of the shirt she's wearing under the torso armor....

I guess I just like the look of baggy military pants for these types of characters... (grabs the eraser)

I think that is better.  I think with those pants she looks more like she belongs in a spaceship than she did before.  The pig in me wants more curves but I think you are doing a good job of making her look as you described and staying out of the "dumb sexy girl" area.  I also like the new boots better.

I look forward to seeing it in color.  Good work.

haven't made much progress but I hope to be picking up on the sideart.

Since our basement remodeling plans have gotten delayed, I doubt I will be printing these anytime soon, but I at least want them done.

Some new sideart chicas... I'm pretty confident the 3rd design here is the final...

That wonky t-molding is supposed to represent chrome t-molding, btw  :P

EDIT:  I removed the image covering the bottom, it looked a bit cheap

I had posted an earlier mockup in my main cabinet thread, but I made some edits since then..

But I would keep the silver t-molding a get a custom icon fabricated from steel as speaker grills!!!
