I found this link on Kotaku.  Definetly over priced, but are there any good ones in this lot that could be modded?

There are 16 Wico topfire sticks on there. I have seen a couple people mod those for cab use. IMO though, none of those sticks are up to snuff for real arcade usage.

Maybe nobody "gets it" because they don't share your view that those consoles were garbage.  Since you've not said anything other than "it's garbage", you're giving the impression that your view is the final word.

It's obvious that you're not the standard by which everyone else judges what is or isn't garbage, so nobody "gets" what you're yelling about and it's more than likely because you've come to a place where there will be more than a fair share of people who enjoy those things.

Perhaps you'll enlighten us with your reasons why things are "garbage" or not, but until that point, you're being a :tool:

#1 His starting bid is $999.   #2 his shipping cost is $300 to EU and $400 to US.   That means it would cost me $1399 to get these sticks.  That is approx. $8.69 per stick.   Do the math and you can see this auction is about $900 too pricey.

That said,  there are some nice sticks in the lot.  I have to agree with Albert on one thing,  the stock Atari joystick was the "SUCK"...if only because the damn thing loosened up and broke in such a short time frame...but there ARE some good sticks in there.

Probably not.  You ARE, however, the only tool that is acting as if your opinion is the last word on this subject AND you're the only one who hasn't given a REASON for your opinion.

Perhaps you need things spelled out so that Thag the caveman could even understand.

I am curious what you expected it to be ... expensive post-manufactured anti-junk, perhaps ?

Why bother...the dude's obviously a  :tool: ...

...if he had even half a clue he would have at least spewed something semi-intelligible in his defense,  but I bet he is sitting at about 1/8 of a clue or so...and I may be over-reaching there.

Personally,  I like my stuff POST-MANUFACTURED so I better not consider these sticks!  They are bad.

What does pre-manufactured mean, as related to the joysticks?  I really don't have any idea what you are talking about.

Personally I liked the 2600 sticks.  I used them for years with my C64.  I thought they were pretty tough.

Compared to legit arcade equipment that stuff is junk.  I'm not sure why people aren't getting that.

I would expect this kind of reaction in the atari age forums but not in a site where people build their own controllers.

::)

Compared to legit arcade equipment that stuff is junk.  I'm not sure why people aren't getting that.

I would expect this kind of reaction in the atari age forums but not in a site where people build their own controllers.

Did you even read this thread?

 :dunno

There was only 1 post that even romotely argued using these for Mame.

The 6 wico ball tops however........ PERFECT FOR MAME!

And that is because the 2600 Wico Balltops are almost the same as their post manufactured arcade counterparts.

Also, I bet you would have a pretty tough time finding anyone, even on atariage, that would say that they are worth $999.

We got us another one of those NASA guys ... bloody rocket scientist this one!!!

Just because it isn't arcade-sturdy doesn't make it junk (although there is some crap there) and nobody suggested that this stuff was suitable for arcade use (except for those Wico balltops, which are sweet for MAME).

You made an assessment of the stuff based on a specific application that you alone had in mind. Hence the multiple requests for you to clarify (hell, even state) your point. Your subsequent refusal and arrogance marked you for what you are.

The realtor is right.

Cheers.

Cheffo:  What's with your hatred of NASA?

They wouldn't accept me for the astronaut training program.

As a result, I am stuck here with a bunch of whiners who are too lazy to do their own reasearch (even if it is spoonfed to them in a wiki) and too lazy to explain their lame-ass comments (even when it is made clear that nobody understands their point).

Fortunately, NASA did send a realtor and some guys with funny hats to keep things entertaining.  :applaud:

Cheers
