I can build controls... I can rebuild games from the ground up... power supplies, game PCBs, monitors... pinball machines too... ...but, no, I'm not much of a carpenter. Maybe I should find Build Your Own Arcade Cabinet? |

Right? My wood skillz are teh week. |

All it takes it the right tools, dedication, and patience and anyone can build a cabinet, especially with a community like this to back you up (with plans, tips, etc.). It might take ten times longer than it would take an experience carpenter, but . . . |

I'm going to build a bartop or two in the spring, probably, but it will be my first carpentry attempt more complex than furniture repair or replacing a screen door, etc. Well, that's not entirely true. I tried to build a box spring platform for my son. We can't fit a full sized box spring up the stairs. I built what I thought was a pretty sturdy platform from 2x4s and 1/2" ply... then later when I went to move it it fell apart because half the screws came out. Wrong screws, I suppose, they didn't bite hard enough. |
