It is just academic. If you read at what they were discussing it's just *if* it is at all possible or not.

I *did* read and it was sounding less and less academic with each post.

This is my interpretation, true, but I know that it matches what others have thought since people have been asking me about it.

Man if I spent $7,000 for that package and then found out shortly thereafter it dropped to $999 I'd be kicking myself.   :)

Who says there can't be a second group buy?  I'd be in for $25 or whatever the amount was determined to be.  Someone has already volunteered to handle copying it to hard drives and mailing them back (see Korendog's quote below.)  Or since Fozzy seems very passionate about it maybe he could handle money collection and purchase and then coordinate with Korendog to work out hard drive collection and distribution.

I just happen to have a couple of 500GB SATA hard drives lying around with nothing on them so I'm ready!   ;)

Oh, and hi.  I'm new to the group (but not to emulation.)  Just got Project Arcade in the mail from Amazon yesterday :applaud: and am eager to start planning my first cabinet.  I've been doing research for awhile and and probably will be researching it for a couple of more months or so before I dive in.  I'm sure I'll be posting many questions along the way.

I'm in for $25.  All we need is 40 more peeps.  I'll even organize it and copy the collection to hard drives.  I work for the post office and it wouldn't be that much to ship a hard drive around the US or even abroad.  I think starting a torrent with it is not a bad idea either.  Whatever works.  What I see is a bunch of peeps on here that say it can't be done.....I say it can!  Let's stop worrying about a few little issues and make it happen for pete's sake!
If you are in post here and when we get 40 takers we'll do it up.

1 - Welcome.

2 - What is it with the top-quoting ? Got a tooo-mohr ? (translation may require a special hat, so don't take offense!)

3 - Good luck with that 2nd group buy. I don't think Mike will want to sell to folks who seem to want to openly distribute the very product that he is trying to sell.

4 - Why jump in after the fact and fool with something that others have already put their money and efforts into ? The 'peeps'  are saying that it SHOULDN'T be done and we should respect the vendors.

:banghead:

Cheers.

EDIT: for sucky typing

Sorry, but I can absolutely see a rationale for a second group buy.  Everyone who took part in the first group buy now has unfettered access to the collection.  Not everyone knew that the first buy was underway.  Interested parties have expressed in this thread that they too would have liked to have been part of the aforementioned group, and would have contributed to receive the same "privileges."  One can say "too bad, read the other boards", but that's not really the point.

Now, should it be openly distributed?  Probably not, but having it distributed amongst the second "buy-in" group does not seem out of line to me.  Somehow, I don't think Mike will reject another $1000 in his pocket, regardless of the outcome, considering the limited market this collection has in the first place.  Also, most sign shop guys don't know what a torrent is anyway.

In any event, I'm in on a second buy if someone wants to do one.  I would have been in on the first had I known about it.
