Nintendo vs Super Mario Brothers CONVERT to Donkey Kong
« on: May 06, 2013, 01:47:43 am »
Hey everybody that likes to look at project threads !

I'm from the hyperspin forums, but have frequented here a lot over the years, mostly reading and learning, I hope to help contribute here! I have a few original machines I want to restore and NOT mame, I feel these need a little more respect than just gutting them... I hope someone can help me...

I have a Nintendo vs super Mario brothers, it needs a little help, and I'm about to do a restore on this bad boy, but I really want to make it a donkey kong machine! Here's the plan...

Clean, check what works, rotate monitor, fix body, acquire parts, install parts, put it in my house nice and pretty so wife will be ok with large arcade # 5 in the house

So, I need help on a few fronts before I get started,

1. Monitor rotation (if it still works well enough to use)
I looked several places and I can't find anywhere that has a good to do description
What do I need, what do I do?

2. Power / parts that definitely should be replaced during restore?

3. Anyone have some stuff to sell me for this project?

That's a Sanyo 20ez.
It's the main monitor used in Nintendo cabs.

A couple things to note:

The sound board is on the monitor. It's to the left of the tube.

This monitor may have a 2 prong plug for power. It looks like and old non polarized plug like you would have on a lamp but DON'T plug it into a standard outlet.
This monitor requires an isolation transformer and furthermore it's 100 volts, not 120 so use the iso transformer that is in the cabinet.

Nintendo is reverse with the video stuff so if you go to use a different monitor in a Nintendo cab or you go to use a 20ez in another non Nintendo cab, you will need a video inverter.
