Turning on TV with power strip

well I got mine really cheap from goodwill, so that was the deal I went with.  I didn't even think about it not keeping the same channel on the tv, I hope it does on this one.  I'll have to find out.  Thanks for all the help and links.

Kaytrim:

If you feel like doing a little rewireing you could setup a one button power on/off system using a relay in the power strip that runs off the PC.  Or you could get one of the PowerMites from NiceMite (aka whammoed on the boards).  Here is a link to his site. http://www.nicemite.com/PowermiteDD/PowermiteDD.htm

Taborious:

I did this with my TV in my cab, but mine is a newer set and in the setup there is a selection for power-up on power. So the TV starts when i switch the power strip on; actually I don't switch it on, I have a remote that powers it on like a christmas tree remote.

So if you TV doesn't have that option in it's setup then you will have to do as Kaytrim suggested and re-wire the power-on button...

Another options is to turn on the power strip when you turn on the TV. Buy a SmartStrip and plug your TV into the control outlet. Then when you turn on the TV the powerstrip will turn on everything else for you.

My friend does this. He can power on his arcade cabinet with his TV's remote control.
