Multiple Cabinets
Birdtales:
OK I have room and I have 5 cabinets. My question is if you could have multiple cabinets how would you set them up.
Here are my 5 cabinets...
1. Hard Drivin - will probably mame this but will keep it a driving cabinet for optical steering games. 25" Monitor
2. NARC - this one has a huge control panel. 19" monitor
3. Generic Pedestal Jamma Cabinet 25" monitor (this one is already Mamed but it has the do all control panel with too many controls (Spinner, Trackball 2 8Ways, a Four way and a trigger stick)
4. Cabaret - Small has a 15" computer monitor in it now.
5. ? - I have a Defender cabinet I don't really want to Mame am trying to find a trade for a more generic cabinet.
I have a Star Wars Yoke on the way so that will wind up being on one of them.
I wanted to start collecting but only have room for 5 games. Figured I'd have a better chance at getting the real arcade experience if I set up the cabs for different things. ie Vertical, Horizontal, 4 way, 8 way, etc.
So how do I get the best bang for my buck?
Drexdamack:
If I were you and had time/money all accounted for I would do this:
1) I-PAC2, Opti-PAC, MAME Driving specific. Try to make your SW yoke swappable for this too. (explain later)
2)I-PAC4, MAME Dedicated 4 player (gauntlet, TMNT, D&D...)
3)I-PAC2, MAME Generic. This would be the beast. Fighting games, general stuff (not 70's/early 80's). 2 8-ways and 8 buttons each or so.
4)I-PAC2, MAME Classic Game dedicated. 1 4-way, trackball, spinner, maybe a tron stick.
5)Sell to a collector for putting Andy into retirement from all your I-PAC purchases.
Again, what I would do if I had the $$$ and the nice stuff you have. Good luck!

SirPoonga:
1. play hard driving! make sure to use a jpac and arcadevga so you can swap a computer with the real pcb! don't change the cabinet.
2. play narc, great game! again, jpac and arcade vga, don't change the cabinet.
3. I'd make this the main mame machine.
4. see 3. Though I'd ebay it or something, really isn't useful, unless it is a pacman caberet:)
5. you ? this because there is no sideart? If a defender cab, make it a defender cb:)

You basically hit exactly what I was thinking except since I did find a collector for the Defender Cabinet that gives me one for the Star Wars Yoke dedicated for analog driving and flying games.
I already have 2 ipac 2's and one KeyWiz. I haven't tried the KeyWiz as of yet to decide what will go in the other two cabinets.
This will be cabinet #5.

Please, PLEASE don't Mame this cabinet. Hard Drivin' and Race Drivin' were two of my all time favorite games and i'd hate to see a cabinet in decent condition get Mamed when it could be restored. Ditto for the Defender cabinet.
