Painless Wiring sells 25 and 50 foot pieces of striped wire, the other alternative would be using wire markers. |

Thanks for the link. I checked it out and it's $16 for 50 ft. Ouch. Getting a variety of colors would be costly. Perhaps there is somewhere else to get it a bit cheaper? Otherwise, I'll just do without! Rick |

The problem is unless you buy quantity nobody will stripe it for you. There are alternatives, most wiring supply places sell wire marking kits which are adhesive number or letter strips that you wrap around each end. You can also stop by a hobby shop and pick up a few different paint markers and use them to color code the wires. Electricians do much of the same thing with colored electrical tape when wiring up a breaker panel. Or you can just do like most BYOACers and wire the whole cab with red. ;) |

I went to Frys and for a few packs of multicolored wire. The packs had 25ft of white, black, yellow, green, and red. I then went to Home Depot by Kinevals recommendation and got some doorbell wire. (Blue) They have lots of nice colors in DB wire. --- Quote from: Tailgunner on January 20, 2007, 11:45:43 pm ---There are alternatives, most wiring supply places sell wire marking kits which are adhesive number or letter strips that you wrap around each end. --- End quote --- The problem here is that as the adhesive gets older, they start to come off the wire. Then you have lots wire wrappers sitting on the bottom of the CP. :P In the past I have made a little map of what wires went where and why. (I build gizmos too). I usually try to keep with standards (green-ground, red - +5 or positive voltage, yellow - +12 or other voltage...) |

Cut the outer jacket off Cat5e or (better to use) Cat6 cable. Easy to find, 8 individual good wires inside, half of them are striped. |
