I have a friend that lives a couple hours away who finally decided he wants to make an arcade cabinet. I have an older UAII cabinet that I built from plans which he likes, but he doesn't think he can do all the carpentry so he wants to buy the pre-cut melamine UAII kit that mameroom.com sells and get a blank control panel to layout himself. However, it looks as though the design has changed since I built mine. For one thing, the control panel 'shelf' is not sloped toward the player. As far as I can tell it's parallel with the ground! The control panels they sell are also not sloped, nor are slikstik's blank CPs. Can anyone recommend either a different (but similar) kit or a control panel that will slant toward the player slightly? Am I just crazy for thinking this is a horrible oversight? I can't think of many arcade control panels that did not have a slight slope for comfort. |

My brother ordered a slikstik and had some custom work done to it - I believe it comes sloped by default. |

Hmmm interesting. He forwarded me an email from slikstik stating that their control panels were not sloped. Maybe they stopped sloping too. It's a conspiracy!! |

There are a few other cabinet makers out there. Dream Authentics has four cabs. The Excalibur looks like it has a sloped CP. Gargantugame has two models as well. The final manufacture is called "A Friend's Help" ;) |

Maybe he would have the confidence to do that? |
