A lot of toy pins are like that... the bumpers are a spring and there is a conductor under the spring on the playfield.  The ball hits both, completing the circuit, and the score is registered.

I was just trying to eliminate something that might be more obvious than we thought originally. (as far as where the power input might have been originally anyways)
I count six wires on that connector leaving the pcb, but couldn't account for them all on the underside of the playfield.
The red one just seemed to dead end to me. And I couldn't see a "sixth" wire anywhere.
Not a technician . . . . just a DIY'er.

Hello,

Googled UFO pinball machine, and this post came to the top. If you're still trying to get it going, I own a working model. A little history: They were sold out of the J.C. Penny catalog, this was the lower mid-line available and it was circa 1977-78. It is loud with noisy functions. Basic home fun. If you are interested I can pull from storage and give a pic of the power supply data plate?
