Ok somebody has to weigh in here.

The first game I purchased was a $150 arch rivals machine, not the most beautiful cabinet, but it was an original, great glass and when I went to pick it up the picture was flakey and had full intent to MAME.

Bring it home.... grab some beers, some friends come over, hours later remembered just how great that game is.  I couldn't bring myself to MAME it.  Figured it would break and I would MAME then.... ok 5 year's later, damn thing still running strong and its been to 4 different houses. (currently at a friends).

Only other reason not to MAME is if it is the original cab, its not the most ergonomic of shapes....  play it for a few hours and you'll see your kind of looking straight at it....   Good news is that the control panel is a good size....

Don't MAME it.  Great machine.   Do what I did, enjoy it, and but a different cab to mame.

I thnk its truely an underappreciated gem.  I would rank it up there with Hat Trick as some of my favorite 2 player games.

Where's the love for Arch Rivals on this board ?

Tip:
Don't forget if you press punch and pass at the same time while following someone you can pull down there shorts.

Don't forget "Hit the Ice", another "Rough-Sports" style of game.

Def

If you scroll down a couple of topics you'll see I made a post looking for a cabinet about 2-3 days ago.  I just can't bring myself to MAME this machine.  As for the ergonomics, I like them.  You can sit on a stool and look directly at the screen.  Lastly, the whole reason this train got started is because of my love of Arch Rivals.  Many Saturday afternoons in college were spent playing this game and drinking beers at the local pool hall.

Anybody got a good lead on a cabinet . . my original post is still empty.

Def,

Please take a moment to read the ArcadeControls.com Manifesto before you rip the machine apart.

Its me with the machine, not Def - and your link doesn't go to a manifesto.
I'll poke around and see if I can find it.
