Speakers for the cab
(1/2) > >>
needlesmcgirk:
I've been looking everywhere for some decent (but not super expensive) speakers to build into my cabinet.  2.1 audio is what I'm looking for.  Best Buy etc. doesn't really have anything unless you want to drop $130 on Klipsch.  Can any of you recommend some good speakers?  Thanks!
PoDunkMoFo:
Automotive speakers work great in cabs.  Go to Kragens.

You could try something like  these Creative SBS 330 2.1 speakers - $17 with good reviews.

I used some Logitech Z3i speakers; they work well for me. I paid like $35, shipped for "refurbished". The thing that I like about em is they have a headphone jack in the volume control dongle, which comes in handy for gaming after my 2 year old twins go to bed...

Just a redundant warning:
Automotive speakers can possibly be bad for cabs if they are not shielded and their placement is near a CRT.  They discolor the image and (I think) may damage the display over time.  Otherwise they are indeeed great.

Also somebody mentioned (a few threads ago) a 2.1 setup that may be appproximately $5 + tax with a coupon if you have an office depot near you.

I picked up an altec lansing 2.1 gaming system for $25 that is loud enough; but it doesn't have a cool prewired remote volume control like most of those from Creative.

I got some Creative t-3000's off ebay for about $30.00 shipped. Sound great for the price and has a remote pod to adjust the volume and bass.
