Why?
shardian:
I am sorry for your loss. It's hard to come up with words to console in this situation. I just hope that the brother who is having trouble dealing will find peace, and focus on the positive memories of his brothers life. My prayers will be with your family.
arcadefever:
:'( sorry about that... all my prayers to you and your familly ...

Well, the guy pled guilty. (News Story) That is good. My brother and his family at least won't have to listen to all the details during the trial. They will have a court date to hear about what kind of guy he is and then they will have another court date for the sentencing. I believe the judge can go as high as he wants but I am afraid it will end up being less than 15 years. With parole, he will probably be able to get out in 10 or less. I hope it doesn't happen that way but...
My other nephew (the brother) seems to be doing better. I got him into modding xboxes :) and it seems to take his mind off of things. I just hope he doesn't go back to the anger now that this is kind of starting up again. Hopefully he will be OK during all of this.
Not sure if anyone remembers this but I thought I would post anyway.

I remember this, sorry for your loss. I would imagine the judge would sentence around 15 years like you said.
I read the first part of the news story so far and I dont see how stabbing someone in a fight is unintentional. "In return for Andrews' plea before Judge John Hoffman, a count of intentional second-degree murder will be dropped, said prosecutor Wade Kish." This gets to me. Its like a reward for saying whether you believed yourself to be guilty. The courts are so messed up. I just hope he gets a serious punishment and your other nephew gets better.

They often lessen the charges in return for not going to all out trial. If there were no incentive to plead guilty, who would ever do that? Pretty much everyone would take their chances at trial if pleading guilty led to the same punishment as being found guilty.
