Looking for clear coat options

I made a mini cab based off the minimame plans. My wife painted some sesame street characters on it with tempera paint. Tempera paint chips pretty easily and is also water based.

Do you guys recommend any particular type clear coat or top coat to protect the tempera paint?

I was thinking of using minwax but wasn't sure if that was the way to go or not.

I would recommend several coats of satin latex clear coat.  Very durable, gives a nice sheen without being too shiny and can be washed.  Use a foam roller.
emerica:
can I put that in a sprayer? Or is there an alternative spray can type?

When tempera paint gets wet it smears since its water based. Just like painting with watercolor paint. Not sure if I want to put a roller to the artwork.

Whatever method you choose, try it on a test sample first.
