Anyone seen these? [Gargantugame]
« on: December 19, 2006, 11:10:32 am »
This is the web site for a local business selling what they call :

THE GARGANTUGAME

Just wondering what you guys thought of it:

http://mycomputerguys.biz/garpro.htm

Seems a little pricy to me, and they are very careful to avoid mentioning MAME or and other TM issues.

The CP is gargantuan and the worst excuse of a frankenpanel I have ever seen.  This thing is but ugly.  I went over to MAMEWold.net to look up other vender's of this type of product and there was a link at the top of the page to these guys.  I am guessing that if MAMEWorld is linking to them then the issue of MAME being on it must be ok.

it seams as if the first thing those people need to learn how to do is make a decent webpage.  just looking at it is making my eyes bleed.

DrewKaree, is that you making these monstrosities?  Located in WI I see.  Who designed that cabinet?  Did you see the junior model?  I will give them credit, they at least started a business.  I hope their wives make good money.

Yikes.  All they need are a few aesthetic/ergonomic changes, as well as a price drop.  It's sad to see this kind of business opportunity and effort go to waste like this.  I can only see super rich people that have never heard of the MAME scene before going for this rig.  Wow, the name even manages to out-suck the actual product, and that should be one of the easiest things to get...not wrong.  :-X

Well, just the colors and layout look late 70's.   People come up with really curious names and such.  I think it's like writing, for example: just cos someone writes something they think is rad, they think someone else'll think it's rad....which is often not the case.

I noticed that too. That's why I'm calling my new line of monstrously ugly cabinets
"Gigant-u-normousplay". I figure everyone will love to have that word on their marquee. I'll also be selling them for $9,800 each. It is a solid business plan... mowing the lawn and drinking beer and all that. The end.

Probably sold the first one to Grandma who would do just anything to make her grandson happy and then figured that they were in business.

Next Month on Ebay:  Extremely rare Gargantumame serial number #00002 Only the second one ever made!!  Don't miss this chance to own a piece of arcade history.  Trust us you will be the only one you know with a cab that looks like this.  Act now and we will install 10 MORE buttons for the low low rock bottom basement price of $25 each.

Only $6800 signed by the owner of Gargantmawhateveryacallit himself!!!

Stay tuned!  :applaud:

Are they trying to claim that they came up with MAME?

LOL! I was thinking more along the lines of "Cabinet Gigante" You know...along the same line as the show "Sabado Gigante"...the show is just not quite as cheesey.

I will say, at least the guy had the testicular fortitude to start a business...not the easiest thing in the world. The product just looks as though it would leave me wanting...with the price tag...I would feel as if I just left the Proc Doc.

I'd be hard pressed to spend 30 seconds in Southridge mall.
But I may, just to see this monster in action.

Where is it located? Near the movie theatre I'm guessing.

It's in some computer store.  :dunno  I have to go to southridge twice a year to get my wedding ring inspected. I didn't even know they had a movie theatre.

yea my wife makes me do it because we got the diamonds insured, I'd rather just get a new ring if something happened insted of going to southridge twice a year
