U360 mounting direction?

I think the important part is that the PCB is mounted in the correct direction, not the joystick so I think you're OK.

It's my understanding that if you want to avoid remapping you can just unscrew the PCB turn it 90 degrees, screw it back down, and Bob's your uncle.
Hopefully my 360's will be waiting for me when I get home, then I'll know whether or not I'm talking out of my backside.

Chris G:

I bought 2 U360s not too long ago and mounted them exactly the same way, but one worked upside-down.  I wrote Andy to find out the deal and he said "UP" can be determined for sure by looking at the interface board itself.  It's a little hard to see, but you can read the word on it.  I guess I got the 1 joystick in a million assembled wrong.  Anyway, you should be able to orient the joystick whichever direction you like (assuming the board can be turned 45 degrees as well as 90, which I haven't tried).

I hope that is the case - I'll find out tonight when I take everything apart and try to turn everything 90 degrees to the mounting plate... I think that it might work because there are 4 screws holding the joystick to the mounting plate and they are in a square configuration so I should be able to turn them... I'll report back when I find out.

I think it has to work since there are no switches to register.  The "switches" are that magical [technical term warning] hall-effect sensor thingy [/technical term warning] and that has to be in relation to how the board is mounted, not the stick itself.
