Broken 19K4903 monitor...

Ok, I bought a 1-slot NeoGeo conversion cabinet (sticker on back says Data East) and when I first powered it
up, you could see sparks/arcing on the monitor chassis.

A technician friend came over and said the monitor is a G07 monitor (stickers around the monitor mounts say
it's a Wells Gardner 19K4903, March 1985).

Anyways, my tech friend said the flyback is bad and to buy one, as well as a cap kit.  Not heeding his advice
about double checking the numbers of the chassis and the flyback with whatever I ordered, I bought the
Electrohome G07 repair kit from Bob Roberts.

When the repair kit arrived, my tech friend said it isn't the right one!!!  You can tell the pins of the old
flyback don't match the new one.  Also, there is a focus and screen knob on the old flyback, while the
new one doesn't have them.

So, here I am stuck with a non-working monitor.

I took some pictures and wrote down some numbers (the numbers on the flyback were worn out and I couldn't
really tell what the numbers/letters were).  Anyways, I'm hoping anyone can help and point me to a
place where I can buy the parts I need.  Or should I just buy a new/replacement chassis?  My tech
friend says that a new chassis will be compatible with the rest of the monitor.

Hmm...I can't see a way to post my pictures via this guest account (I can't log in
because the site keeps on giving me login/password errors).

Anyhow, there's a sticker on the side of the chassis that says 2930003328.
On the flyback, there appears to be 3 rows of information.  The text is
almost gone, but from what I can see, the 1st row says Q2809, the 2nd
row says MSH1FAPO3 (I'm not sure if the last three characters are really
PO3), and the 3rd row says 200972?3?1 (I'm not sure of the last 5 characters,
hence the '?' question marks).

Any help would GREATLY be appreciated!

Picture is worth 1,000 words, can you post one?

If it is a K4900, you're screwed.  They don't make flybacks for them anymore.

I have the pictures ready for posting but don't know how to post 'em to the forum (i.e., I don't see an icon for me to
click to browse my computer for the pictures).

Any ideas?

I can mail 'em to you and maybe you can check it out and/or post 'em here.

I have an account here but I still cannot log in with my username and password.  After several login failures, a
dialog box opens up to send me an email with a link to input a new password.  When I click on the link and
try to enter and save a new password, it says "invalid code".

Yes, I totally agree that pictures would help.  I have 'em but can't post 'em.

Everywhere on the monitor frame indicates it's a 19K4903.  If it's true with what you said, then I
am screwed then, huh?  Would my next option be to just buy a compatible chassis, like those
8liners that I see people talk about?  Any other options?  Should I just plunk down the cash
to buy a brand new 19" monitor from Betson Pacific in Los Angeles (I'm located in San Diego and there aren't
any arcades parts places around here that I'm aware of).  I'm so tempted to buy one of those
new Nieman 25" monitors that I see in the Monitor/Video forum, but currently they don't have a
California distributor, it's probably a heck of a lot more cash than I'm willing to spend right now
to get this arcade cabinet working, and it probably won't fit the 23.75" width (inner) of the cabinet.

So, how do I post the pics and what would be the least expensive solution to get the monitor up
and running?

Thanks!

i don't know if wei ya make a chassis that will fit your tube if they do it will save you alot of money and time.try www.alvaamusement.com and you will find a email address to send them info, they will need the tube size,frequency(15k i would imagine),tube type and amount of pins on the neck and the impedence of the horizontal yoke, your tech friend should be able to find all that for you, good luck

Ok, I still can't log on successfully to the forum to post some pictures here.  So, I give up until the bugs from this site has been removed.

Anyways, I've posted the pics here

http://www.flickr.com/photos/datuin/sets/72157594357231973/

The last 9 pictures of the set show the chassis, flyback, tube, and stickers of my dead
Neo Geo monitor.

Any more feedback on what to do with this monitor would greatly be appreciated.

I figure to get the cabinet up and running in the quickest amount of time would be to just buy
one of those 19" monitors from Betson, like this one

http://www.betson.com/products/parts/JCM-44-4519-02

Anyone have any info on this monitor?  Is it worth it or should I just break down
and get something like that RGB-to-NTSC converter from www.jrok.com (btw,
does anyone know if these are still available?  I emailed jrok and never got a
reply from him)?  With one of these converters, I can re-use my old 20"
VGA monitor in place of this dead 19" arcade monitor.

Thanks again!
