The way the thing would be setup mechanically, when the joystick is in position, the lever that's activating the microswitch will remain in place, keeping the switch held down.  The lever which will be activating the switch can be seen in the diagram borrowed from Ultimarc's site...  You can see it on the right side of the stick.  I'd be setting it up so that the lever contacts a different switch at either side of it's travel - for 4 and 8 way.

Apology accepted.

BTW - I only promote AtomicFE if it's a viable alternative. There are some features that one or the other don't have that you may want. Like this situation. I'll see if I can come up with a solution, since it looks like Mala and AtomicFE don't quite have what grueinthebox is looking for out of the box.

Of course, we're still waiting for any help from you, Headkaze - instead of you ragging on someone that actually attempted to suggest a solution to the question...

I never apologised. You get on my nerves everytime you hijack threads with the same old dribble, most of the time I hold my tounge but not today. I'm not sorry I pointed out it annoys me.

I understand what you want now (I'm a bit slow)..

I don't think 'either' front end has exactly what you are looking for.
EG specifying specific keys/button for a specific game list   :dunno  The closest you could get (as already suggested) is have just two game lists clearly labled and have ONE button allocated to alternate Between the two

Sorry

Yeah I was a bit confused myself, probably because I have no idea how 4/8 way's work. But it seems a little strange that switching over would mean a switch is held down. A solution would be to use an AutoIt script that would allow you to map the keys by pressing some key to switch between the two. But I doubt it would be a very easy script to write.
