From there, I just planned on printing out a transparency with what I wanted. As it worked out, I wasn't going to be able to use it lit, so I just used a laser-printed paper insert. It was going to be the credit button on a stand-alone joystick project. In the end, I got my cabinet and aborted the smaller joystick project. --- End quote --- Genius! |

Alan...that's a great compliment considering the text under your avatar ;D I just wanted to reach down on the front to add credits. a generic button on the control panel just doesn't have the same feel. Now I have REAL coin slots that accept REAL quarters. And nothing brings back my memories of blowing all my money on games like HEARING the coin drop through the mech and into the coin bucket. I actually added some washers in a plastic bag to the coin bucket since I didn't have enough quarter "build-up" to make the familiar noise. It's heaven. I really am surprised that very few people on the boards have used the illuminated buttons. The other idea I may implement if I upgrade to a bigger cabinet is having a row of "top 10" game illuminated buttons. i.e. Button 1 launches Ms. Pac, Button 2 is Donkey Kong, etc. It'd be a much easier way for people unfamiliar with the cab (or me) to pick games instead of sorting through a large list of games they've never heard of. I figured I'd just use numbered inserts in the buttons and then have a key as to what each button is. So if I get burned out on Shinobi, I can add something else without have to remove and disassemble the button. Besides the lack of variety in shapes and sizes, I don't see what the big disadvantage is to the budget buttons. Mine seem as sturdy as any I've encountered on an arcade/gambling/redemption games. And there's a pretty good variety of lens colors. I just don't have enough room for them on my control panel. |

Those buttone would be perfect for my application. Tried looking for them on the Happs site, but it seems I'd have to buy a bunch of them just to place an order ($25 min order) I only wanted 3-4 of them. :lame: |
