Raid over ???Bay

specfire:

There were at least two "Raid over ..." games for the C64

1. Raid over Moscow:  This game was complex and very involved.  It had action scenes that were Zaxxon-like as well as scenes that were DiscOfTron-like as well as a few other other scenes.  In the Zaxxon-esque scenes, the fighter-bomber aircraft had momentum of which you speak in an isometric type view.

2. Raid over Bungling Bay:  This game had you flying a helicopter off of an aircraft carrier.  You flew around the sea in and amongst a series of islands.  The view was top down and the helicopter didn't really have any momentum.

If you are interested in either of these games I suggest you check out the great C64 emu VICE at http://www.viceteam.org/  Also check out an original C64 hacker group that STILL exists!!  http://www.bitte8bit.de/newremember/htdocs/news.php

See screen shots below (6 of Raid over Moscow, 1 of Raid over Bungling Bay):

FrizzleFried:

Raid Over Moscow ROCKED!   If I remember right,  I want to say it had some voicework in the game as well...

MYX:

River Raid Rocked. I used to play that for hours at the kid across the streets house. (We wern't allowed to have one. :-[)

Yup bungling bay is it. I thought it was a jet. Funny. For what ever reason I remember it looking slicker than that, but after seeing it that is it.

Thanks!

I think the physics of turning made it a fun fighter to control.

TOK:

Raid on Bungling Bay and Raid Over Moscow are not related. Bungling Bay was by Electronic Arts, Raid Over Moscow was by Access. They also made a great multi-level game called Beach Head.
The name was reincarnated for a budget title on the PC a few years ago, but it was just a basic mouse point-and-click shooter.

RayB:

I have to throw in my 2 cents, that ROBB was a great game. The Helicopter control was very well done.

Another one in this theme we're discussing is Blue Max.
