Thanks for the reply-yes it is a little rough lol-believe me i'm no carpenter but my housemate was pushing me to finish it hence the rushed look.

Like i said most of the bits we already had-including the 19" lcd monitor-so it is definately a 'budget build'-and i've learnt a lot so far on this one which i can utilise on mk2 which will hopefully have a larger screen and proper cp with overlay etc. i was planning on getting some perspex etc. for the cp but was worried about cutting the holes?

Also the reason the monitors where it is is because i made the cp to be able to pivot up so it would fit through doors etc. but doesnt quite alas-oh well. ;D

Oh. A fold-up panel. I'd wondered about the inside of the 'hood'. Well, I don't know how often anyone else would move such a thing, but if it were me I'd just make it detachable for the rare case needing it.

Thanks and duly noted-after building it i now realise it will rarely be moved-and mk2 will have a detachable CP as suggested.

all ia can say is HOLY  F !!!!!!!!! VERY NICE

here is a pic of my second CP.  i got the overlay from mamemarquee.com  , 2 days after installing tho, using recommended 3M High strength 90 srapy glue, the overlay lifted bad. So as a result scott is sending me another for shipping cost only. he says a few other people have had same problem, not sure if 3m glue formula has changed or his.

forgive crappy pic, this is from cell phone, my digital broke.

Behold my Giant Balls

The original black 4.5" diameter balls were replaced with the same-size flame colored candlepin bowling balls.

The stick and buttons are mounted on a hard plastic 1/2" cutting board that was easy to carve with a dremel tool.  They replace the original plastic "play select" screen of the Atari Football game.  All very reversible, I still have the original parts (leave me alone!)

It's a SlikStik, nothing I made. All I did was take all the buttons etc off and add the overlay to it.

I like the art. A lot there, but the colors and textures smooth it out. A cozy feeling.

This is my first attempt at flush mounting the trackball plate.  It is also the first time I have used a CPO.  I think it came out pretty well for the first try..... :)

I like the Galaxian style mame on the front Ede!

Here's a pic of mine. It's not wired yet (will do that today) but the part everyone sees is finished. It's based on "Spacecataz" which is the war between the Mooninites (left) and the Plutonians (right) from the cartoon Aqua Teen Hunger Force.

I just made my way through the entire thread (in one sitting) and am really blown away by all of the great designs!

Rounded cabs, cabs with panels that extend around, some "joy boxes" and even one shoe box!

On the cabinet I play the 1980's classics, so I really didn't need a lot of buttons, and take advantage of the "shift" feature on the JPAC to be able to reuse a few of buttons for pause, reset and credits.

The joysticks are 4/8 way switchable from the top.

The first picture shows the panel with the ball-top sticks, the second with the bat-tops. I was initially worried that the ball-tops were too short, but after playing with them the last couple of days, I think I prefer their height.

wow!  some of these are amazing!

Others I must admit I don't see what the point is for so much empty space in the middle.  But then again, it may just be the picture and its not as huge as it may seem.

I'm hoping to get my CP finished this weekend :)  I'll post when done, but now I am already 2nd guessing my plans after seeing some of these!  Mabey in a couple months I'll spring for some fancy artwork and build another panel.

For the time being I just want it done sooner than later :D

Not incredibly interesting but very functional.  I am planning on tripping it out with LEDs next month and will post the new image once it is completed.  I don't like to put an overlay on my CP since it isn't really a theme machine or anything.

6 Buttons per player
2 8xway joysticks
1 4xway from a Ms. Pacman cab
1 spinner
1 3" Blue LED trackball with 3 mouse-buttons
4 admin buttons (Pause, Tab, Enter, and Exit)
Pinball buttons (On the side)
P1 & P2 with coin buttons
1 Save and 1 Load button (On the front)

My latest, slanted cp; was 20 degrees too much?

2 player with 2" trackball.  Not enough room for really getting into golden tee, but great for most games I have tried with it.

Thankfully Andy has the new trimless trackball which is very nice and I can't wait to install it.  http://www.ultimarc.com/trackball.html

Routing out the bottom and mounting it with out the trim plate was a bear, but very worth it.

24"x9"x6"deep 20degree angle

Check out my Custom Mortal Kombat Control Panel.  I made it where it works on PS1, PS2, PS3, xbox, PC for MAME, gamecube and Sega Dreamcast.   I made the top button setup like the Klassic MK games and then I added buttons on the sides to play the newer MKs like Deadly Alliance, Deception, and Armageddon.  It also has a program were I can switch between Digital and Anolog so I can play games like Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks and Motor Kombat.

Artwork was designed by Malenko...which was the most important piece to making this control panel look so good, if it wasn't for him, it wouldn't have been possible.  Thanks Malenko.

Even though it's not completely done, I figured I'd show my first control panel ever.   ;D  It is custom artwork I made myself and had printed out at Staples for about $40.  Where I am a bit upset, however, is that with the multitude of VERY humid days we've had this summer the paper it's printed on appears to have warped a little bit so I can see a bunch of "waves" forming in the artwork itself.  :(  I'm still a VERY long ways away from having a completed cabinet, so in the future I may go and have the artwork reprinted by MAMEMarquees on a vinyl of sorts to keep it from waving like this one has.  Of course, that will mean completely undoing all the buttons and basically rewiring the inside again, but if I'm going to be keeping this thing I might as well do it.

So there are three images.  One is an overall image of the CP, another is a closer up view of the top, and the last is an image of the back of the CP where I have the wires for the USB Key-Wiz, the USB Spinner, and the USB Trackball coming out.  I also have a custom wire job for the led in the trackball which will be powered by a 12V molex connector.  Finally, I have a terminal thing on the back to hook up my coin door wiring.  In the future, I may just turn all of that into a serial type connector so I can hook all my Coin Door wires into one cable and just plug it in the back.  Again, I have plenty of time so I might as well do it.

Oh yeah.  I've got the T-Molding but it's not on yet.  Since it is thicker T-Molding than the thickness of the CP Top, once it's on it's nearly impossible to open up the top of the CP.   ;D
