Crappy iPhone pics in a dirty garage, but you get the idea.   >:D  Basic Knievel CP design...

Image art for "The Blue Pill".  I tried to get less light to bounce off the plexi..

Edge lighting from the GGG EI2 buttons..

Hmmm.  Needs a blue trackball and some LED sticks...wonder if Santa is listening?

Happy colorful wiring!!

RGB LEDs, a couple PACLED64s, and LEDBlinky, my friend. :)

Thanks, I really should update that post. Alot has been done to the Beast since then, including cabinet lighting...

Thanks for the comments, the track ball is one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/280913244016?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
the ball is 54mm or just over 2 inch. Yet having bought it I found it unusable im my design, so i used the ball and the rollers added in an old g5 lazer mouse (with some track cutting and jiggerypokery) made a mounting for it and bingo! There are some pics here in the project announcement thread http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,122179.0.html
thanks

I added in a third pic to show that cutout better for you.

It was very easy as I ordered a flat pack cab from arcadeworx then put the rest together.
They drill the CP, cut the marquee and the door to your specs or pictures using a machine. Good company.

a while back I posted a pic of my old control panel but even though my most recent has been done for close to a year now, I just hadn't posted the cp on this thread.
So tonight I had my daughter (budding photographer) snap some shots and here they are....

If you look real close and imagine real hard, you can almost see the pattern on the Sanwa mesh ball, probably wasn't worth the $12 each. I could have sent them back but the white goes well with the project.

Neo Geo time....

Thanks for looking

Well, lets see:

This is just for what currently on my panel, as I originally had planned for a different panel which was a bigger fighter type panel with more buttons

2 Sanwa JLWs $40
plus $10 or so for a round gate and softer switches for left stick
2 Sanwa meshballs $24 (way too much for a ball whose design is very hard to see)
1 happ usb 2.25" trackball $80 (bought a while ago)
1 Ipac $40 (i think) also bought a while back
1 omni2 stick with soft switches $30, I then had an issue with the stick and perferred the JLW so I took the modded gate and soft switches and put them on a JLW.
1 TurboTwist 2 spinner with storage cylinder $75
    plus Token Top Knob $23
12 GGG Electric Ice2 pushbuttons with soft switches and RGBs $84     Plus I had originall ordered more of these because my original plan was a bigger control panel with 7 buttons per player with 2 flipper buttons per side
2 LEDWiz Controllers (Though I currently only use one) $45

This totals about $441
Plus the cost for the custom cpo from Gameongrafix which I don't even remember the cost on.

Just finished my second vertical cab. I had built a similar one a couple years back.

It's 1 player. Left side is 8-way. Right side is 4-way. I may add a servo stick on the right in the future to make it 2 player for the shmups. But for now it works great for me. :-)

Hey all! First timer here.

I was browsing around for cabinet ideas and stumbled across Jarrett's 'Space Paranoids' control panel design he posted back in 2009 here:

http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=83312.0

I totally fell in love with it. After some further digging around, I found out he had posted the his artwork source files (layered photoshop files) for all to use. What luck! Great stuff Jarrett. I appreciate all of your work!

I tweaked the font to match the Flynn's arcade cabinet I saw in Disneyland, and added the 'Williams Family' logo (My last name is Williams :P ). I had the artwork printed on laminated vinyl, and went to work.

I just started working on the control panel, the rest of the cabinet to follow. I still need to get the spinner, trigger joystick and trackball which explains the empty spots and placeholder button.

Sticker sheets back from the sign guy.

Before drilling.

After button install.

After T-Molding.

Cabinet base.

Dry fit.

After paint/pinball buttons.

Detail.

I also just received the controller, and I'm starting the wiring now!

Thanks for looking!

Here's a pic of my completed MAME cab and CP. The control panel was quite hacked up as you can see in the second pic. I think it started out as a Konami cab of some sort, maybe TMNT, and was eventually converted into NBA jam. When I bought it it was just the cab, busted monitor, and NBA jam CP layout, no boards, joysticks and buttons had to be replaced.

Anyway, for the CP, I used the existing wood, bondo'd all the extra holes, and drilled a new 6 button layout for the middle two positions. Happ buttons and IL competition sticks for middle positions. The button layout is Hori and the colors I used match their Xbox 360 fight sticks as I also have an Xbox360 in there I can switch to. I also replaced the monitor with a 26" 16:10 LCD.

Just finishing up my first project the  :applaud: "Biz Arcade"  :applaud:
Ill try to keep it brief  :blah:

its a 4 players console, player 1,2 have 6 buttons and player 3,4 have 4 buttons. 4 8-ways joysticks and i got 2 lightguns on the way ;D

Photo 1: As an architect i must say always build a model first!

Photo 2: I used autocad for the 2D plans but you can use Revit for the 3D plans love that program :notworthy:

Photo 3: I used the printed plans for all the cuts and holes easyer then drawing on the wood itself.

Photo 4: Anarchy of wires muhahaha  a lot of work it took to organize this mess.

Photo 5:Art work done by Tamar Zelig to look like an awsome electronic board. THANKS TAMAR!

Photo 6: the final result all the buttons have leds in them all connected to the pc for power, i also had a 2mm plastic laser cutted to protect the artwork and give the console and extra glossy look.

Thats all folks, my first project almost completed, already got plans for a few more. :]

feel free to contact me for questions or original console plans if you want to copy this one.

Biz

P.S
----
If you notice i tried something new with this controller the left side the joystick is on the left and on the other side its on the right
trying to see if i can adapt this for right handed and left handed people...
ill let you people know if it worked out or a big flop, but give me you thoughts as well.

thanks

Very nice Monkey. I love the pull out control panel. Does it feel too low when using it?

Thanks, glad you like it. I've never had a problem with the height of the pull out panel. It is 32" from the ground, which is only 4" lower than the main control panel. Also I didn't put a slope on it because you are standing more over it.

Biz

P.S
----
If you notice i tried something new with this controller the left side the joystick is on the left and on the other side its on the right
trying to see if i can adapt this for right handed and left handed people...
ill let you people know if it worked out or a big flop, but give me you thoughts as well.

thanks

that CP looks awesome
