His use was a little off the connotation, that being care-taking, rather than assembling and culling. No one mentioned his great wiring job, though.

Just wrapped this one up for my first cab, the Chrono Crosser.  It's a pretty general jack-of-all trades design for 4 players that tries to not QUITE be a Frankenpanel.  I opted for auto-mappable Ultrastiks and a flight stick instead of a bespoke 4-way.  Main 20 buttons are RGB lit and auto-swap per-game using RGBCommander.

The controls are set in the tempered glass. To avoid too many holes in the glass, the joysticks (servostiks) are mounted on a base. Features touch controls for P1 P2 and coin buttons. Turns out its not a good idea having them between the buttons like I did as you can sometimes set one of them off while button mashing    I put them there because the CRT was affecting the touch controls sometimes due to the magnetic field. If I used an LCD (which I regret not doing) then they would have been up the side of the bezel, far far away from the buttons!  Talking of buttons, there is a minimum distance between holes in tempered glass. Mine ended up a bit bigger than needed which meant the already not ideal spacing was even further apart. If I had to do it again, I'd get them to use imperial sizing (was in millmetres) and that should get the switches just that much closer together.

Glass guys did that. CNC I think. Then tempered. There is a price per hole which meant the holes added up to costing more than the glass!

I have drilled lots of holes in glass. It can be an adventure. Especially drilling aquariums. You only get one chance.

This was my first build.  The buttons are all RGB-LED and are controlled by LEDBlinky to provide voice function and illumination for each game.

I also used the TR2N font and Word Art to create the custom button labels in maintaining the Tron Legacy theme of the cab. 

The joysticks are Sanwa J-sticks with P1  being a servostik.  I love it's automated 4-way and 8-way adjustment. Thanks, Andy @ Ultimarc!

The mini-flight stick is from Groovy Game Gear and is wired in parallel to the P1 controls. (thanks, Scott!)

The spinner detaches and fits a 6" steering wheel (both purchased from Ultimarc) in case my friends feel like playing Pole Position, Outrun, Ivan Ironman, etc.

Here's my control panel before/after enabling the lighting:






I built the control panel as an inner sleeve that just slides into the top of the outer control box. Only needs two cables to attach to the cabinet. The control box and sleeve use a 5 degree slope for comfort. The controls are two ServoSticks, two ultimarc spinners and trackball and 18 Spectra Eclipse RGB LED buttons.

Hey guys I'm trying to upgrade to a 4 player control panel with a trackball.I currently have a 2 player. My question is the template I'm thinking of using the 3 and 4 player positions the joystick is cocked to the side so basically the up and down isn't directly in line with the screen as you will be standing at more of a slight angle in reference to the screen. How is that as far as playing is involved is it odd . When technically going right you would actually be moving the sick down and to the right in relation to the screen. Thanks. Alot off nice looking panels in here by the way.

I don't know why the pics are stretched horizontally. It appears that you can download the pic and look at it as it should be.

AFAIK it's a combination of EXIF rotation and the images being over 1024 pixels wide.
