Added Scroll bar to VMJ

(1/2) > >>

VMJ Team:
I've had a few requests for this one...a scroll bar (slider bar) to quickly navigate through a large library of albums.  I'm still working on this feature to make it work better, but it out there for you to play with:

I had an idea the other day...

What if the "cards" that display songs on a CD flipped instead of slid? Even if an animation of the flipping wasn't possible, you could probably have the data change at the center of the screen. The effect would be that when CDs 003 and 004 are displayed on the right and you go forward you would get 005 and 006 on the left and 007 and 008 on the right with one button press. This by itself would add more a realistic Jukebox feel and would double the speed of browsing.

Another option would be to add 2 more left-right buttons that cause a jump to the next letter. So if you are browsing the A's a single press would take you to the first CD that begins with B. Sort of a Fast Forward through the list.

The slider bar would be really hard to use without a mouse, which most Jukeboxes don't have.

I agree with Jay.  The mere idea of a "scroll bar" screams "I am a computer....I am Windows-based!!"

I really like the current look of VMJ3.  It does not look windows based, but rather like a jukebox (operated with two arrow keys and a numeric keypad).  At parties, it is easy for everyone to use, no explanations needed.  No questions like "OK..I found a song....now how do I get it to play??"

Everyone who has ever been in a bar (bowling alley, etc..)  knows instinctively how to use a jukebox:
1) Arrow back and forth till you find an album you like
2) Use the numeric keypad to select an album and song
3) Press "OK" to accept the selection

Keep it simple, and we will enjoy!!  Just my $0.02,
Fat Johnny

ps...the only thing I would LOVE to see is VMJ  HIGHLIGHT the song you picked (change background color, or BOLD the title, or both), so you get a visual confirmation before you click "OK".  This feature was really nice in older versions of VMJ, but seemed to get lost in version 3.

VMJ Team:
The scroll bar feature is an option only that can be hidden...I've had several request for it.  Every feature in the software will be optional...for those wishing to hide anything that makes it look like its running on a computer.  I'll check into the flipping effect and the highlighting option.

Thanks for your feedback.

How about a button that when pressed brings up an A-H I-P Q-Z selection on the main screen , if not pressed after so many seconds returns to the display screen if pressed starts the album covers from the specified selection ?

Hope u found a new engine Cyber , have my .mpgs and .cdgs ready for action !!
