"MAMEWAH for Dummies"??

Donkey_Kong:
I did some searches on this and can't get er done. :dizzy: Made an order for some joysticks and am just trying to stay productive while I wait for them. Trying to figure out a front end. Any suggestions? I'm too damn stoopid to even get MAMEWAH working. :hissy:

Any suggestions on this subject? Should I continue to try to get MAMEWAH working? If not, which FE should I try next. If you say MAMEWAH, I say can you hold my hand while I try to get it working? The instructions don't  make sense to me. Is there a "MAMEWAH link for Dummies" out there?

The only thing that I noticed that I might have wrong is that I have MAME32, and the instructions are always specifiying MAME.
Thx-

This is a mamewah config setup that will help you....
http://www.bluecamel.org/software/mc/mamewahconfig_161.1.zip

also go to jcrous's site:
http://www.emuchrist.org/cpviewer/downloads.htm

to help you with certain ini files and wrappers etc.. some emulators will require a hacked version so instead of having a GUI in the emulator while hitting the ESC key it will bring you back to mamewah menu rather than pulling up a menu within the emulator.

Good Luck.

Donkey_Kong:
Will MAMEWAH work with MAME32? It seems like I am really close thanks to the "mamewah config setup" Mr Clean, but just can't seem to make it.

I do the configure utility and it seems like I'm doing it right but there is alot of stuff in there that I could easily screw up as well. Anyway, when I open the MAMEwah program it just says "No Games Available"  :banghead:

mrclean:
Don't use mame32.. just download the latest mame off mame.net for one.. ill try to help you get started if your still having issues by tomorrow morning, read the wiki for now :-)
Donkey_Kong:
Man. When I step outside of MAME32 I'm lost brothers. MAME32 is basically a frontend in and if itself compared to all of this command line stuff. For now I'm gonna have to save myslef the heartache and just stick with MAME32. After I burnt up about 8-10 hrs trying to make MAMEWAH go with MAME32 shows you how bright I am not.  :dizzy:

I can't ever get regular MAME to run.  Mame.net FAQ Says...

--- Quote ---S08. How do I launch MAME? (DOS and Windows)

To launch the MAME in Windows, open up a command prompt. You can find it either from under Start Menu - Programs, or you can simply select Run and type command.com (Windows 95 / 98 / ME) or cmd.exe (Windows NT / 2000 / XP) into the dialog box. Go to your MAME directory (for example C:\MAME) by typing cd \mame and type a command with this syntax:
mame <gamename> <parameters>
--- End quote ---

I can't seem to open a MAME game by following the instructions above. Is this really how you do it? Command Prompts??...It reminds me of how I tried running a Computer about 20+ years ago. I'm interested in a neat front end though and if command prompting is what it is gonna take, bring it on I guess..

Mr. Clean...Thx for the help. I will come back to this another day.
