I had a 3 year old mobo that was acting flakey, so took a look and EVERY cap on the whole board was bulging and or leaking. Bought a new mobo (which was cheap). For amusment, I practiced my soldering by replacing all the caps on the board (it was a long slow night at work) and to my surprise it worked perfectly - in fact the higher-rated caps I used seemed to allow for a slightly superior overclock too. It look hilarious as the only caps I had to hand were 3 times bigger than than the stock ones, so I had to leave longer legs on and bend them all over the place. Looked liked it was a scene from War of the Worlds or something.... |

i wouldnt mind trying to fix it if i didnt need it desparately. im going to do what you did then and at least get a replacement. is the one in my link above your post good? i use 3ds max and play games like quake 4 for requirements refs. i was thinking of something like a pent 4 with at least a 2.7ghz cpu. and it has to be able to use my ddr ram not sure on speed as of now. and i fixed the link for my first post. |
