could any of you guys with TMNT confirm a dimension for me?  From all the pics I've seen these dimensions just dont look right... 1.5" seems way too big.. probably doesnt matter much but I want to be sure before I start cutting.. This is uncharted territory for me!!  :D

BTW.. that's from the side showing the notch right at the control panel.

Hmmm, well I have dry fitted the monitor a few times. Very tight fit. Looks like no matter how i put it in the back is going to stick out. Looks like I will have to cut the back door.

Hey Lakersfan, does your monitor stick out the back? I cant tell if you have the back door on in the pictures.

I am also considering cutting a slot on the bottom slanted shelf to slip the metal monitor bracket into to lower the monitor as it hits the speaker shelf in the back. This may be my best bet.

I have to make it work, as I have done way to much work to this TMNT cab to scrap it now.

Thanks for the tips guys.

Hey Brandon, I measured mine and I get 1 inch on the nose.  And mine has a slight incline to it, and the next angle area is just over 1 inch.  I dont know that it would matter much if you left it 1.5 on both sides, it would just add a little to the over all size. The angles are pretty important as they allow the CP lid to lay down correctly, so when you latch it, the cp seals nice and tight. I put some sticky door insulation strips on the under side of the cp to cushion it and help seal it even better.

Hope that helps,

I just picked up a Betson 27" monitor and was getting ready to mount it.  Luckily there were already pieces of wood inside my cab (complete with bolt holes) to mount the monitor.  However, the mounts are for a 25" inch monitor and they have to be moved slightly to accommodate the larger 27" size.  I haven't made the modifications yet, so I can still take pictures of the monitor mounts as they are.  Unfortunately, I'm not at home at the moment, so I can't right now.    :(

However, I will post the pics as soon as I can.  In the meantime, I will try to describe it.  Basically, for the top part of the monitor (3 bolts) the cab has a block of wood on the left and right side which is screwed in from the inside of the cabinet.  (The screws used do not go all the way through to the outside)   Then a piece of plywood is screwed into those pieces and goes all the way across to either end.  On that piece of plywood is 3 holes with bolts.  The monitor then bolts into the plywood.  The same is true for the bottom.

Since the cab already had these pieces of wood in there (originally from when it was manufactured) I'm pretty confident that they are strong enough to hold the monitor.  However, since it's a 27" and a bit heavier than the original 25", I plan to also put pieces of wood or brackets under the monitor for additional support once the monitor is mounted.

Again, all of this can be accomplished by screwing in small pieces of wood from the inside of the cab without having to have an unsightly bolts on the outside of the cab.  The screw should be long enough to make it through the wood you are screwing to the cab, but short enough to not go all the way through to the outside.  When I post the pics I will also include the size screw I used.

** UPDATE:  Pictures posted  **
(excuse the wood filler - I'm preparing my cab for painting)

eek!  looks like I better modify these plans a little before I cut the wood!  I guess you could trying moving the monitor forward an inch or two but then I guess you wouldn't have room for the bezel... ???  Maybe I should build a mortal kombat cab instead  ;)

It does look awful close!  Hey Lakersfan, Does it hit the back door?

btw, thanks for taking measurement for me Deefish! :)  I might leave those notches out and put 3/4" notches in the control panel instead. :-\
