ROTFLMAO!
Sasquatch!:
My first pick is "Everything you wanted to know about building an Arcade game but were afraid to ask."  My second being "Rebuilding your memories.

--- Quote from: Howard_Casto on March 22, 2003, 05:58:51 pm ---Umm it is a juvenile hobby man.  We are grown men and women playing with toys.

I kind of disagree with you.  While the act of playing arcade games is juvenile, the huge majority of us are grown men reclaiming some of our childhood memories.  It's fun and it's light-hearted, but I wouldn't say that the hobby itself is "juvenile".

Speaking of which, I absolutely hate the following:
BYOAC: Over 300 members playing with our joysticks since 1997
Where do 300 people get together to show off there joysticks?
BYOAC: If you build it she will play with it.  <Show pic of scantilly clad women leaning against cabinet>

"Playing with our joysticks" is beyond juvenile...it's downright stupid.  It also reeks of those hats that say "FBI: Female Body Inspector" that you can buy at the county fair.

The "scantily clad woman" leaning against a cabinet would only work if it was a very tongue-in-cheek cartoon rather than some desperate attempt to add "sex appeal" to this hobby.  In other words, it would only work if it was "cute".

But in an attempt to not just be negative and to actually contribute something, my submission would be:

FRONT:
The "BYOAC" logo at the left breast pocket.

BACK:

(Excuse the crappy execution, but hopefully it gets the idea across.)

How about something like:

                        Joysticks:   $28
                        Wood:       $61
                        Trackball:   $94
                        Buttons:     $27

A year in the garage with power tools:  Priceless

                       www.arcadecontrols.com

on second thought if SWMBO see's even these conservative prices in print it might set her off  ;)

Actually, I'm yet to meet a single person who thinks I'm a dork for building my own arcade controls.  In fact, everybody has said it was really cool, and they wish they had a cabinet of their own.  And I've shown it to both men and women from age 12 all the way up to retirement age.  Granted, the retirement age people didn't say they wanted one of their own, but they still thought it was cool.

I get the same reaction. People either think it's cool and want one of their own, or if they're on the older side they respect the amount of work and creativity that went into making it happen and are impressed.
