--- Quote from: Grasshopper on September 25, 2006, 03:08:20 pm --- However, I'm not sure you'd be happy with a bartop. Defender, Stargate and Robotron are all very physical games. To really recreate the arcade experience you have to be pushing against something sturdy when you move the joysticks. I haven't tried the 360s but if their feel is anything like the standard Sanwas then I'd say they're probably too soft for the Williams games. Have you considered using Suzo Inductives? --- End quote --- Thats a good point. I have Sanwa Balltop on my Multi Williams cocktail and they are a bit soft. The X-Arcade sticks on the bartop are much stiffer. I have some Sanwa Battop now so might give them a try. If you need any help during your build, just ask. :) |

Grasshopper: Your right... very physical. For me and nearly every person I've seen play before. I've seen some real graceful Defender players. Spacies: Thats the bartop I saw before and the one I was looking for. Cool thanks. I think Grasshopper has a point - these are indeed physical games (for me at least). I'll have to consider a direction to take. Thanks for the link and the offer of help! What it really comes down to is: Is defender/stargate worth it? Cause Robotron plays good on my other machine. Defender not so much. |

No worries. The cabinet was built from 18mm MDF and with a PC and a 15" monitor and I would guess around 40kgs (90lbs) With a huff and a puff I can carry by myself but its more arkward than heavy. Besides it sits up against the wall so and it has never moved while being played. I have some pretty rough mates who aren't gamers and they thrash it lol. I myself have been gaming for 20 years and have just come to the conclusion that it don't make any difference if you push the joystick hard or soft, it don't make it move quicker. LOL. |
