Stupid Win98 Question - users

fredster:
I deleted the client stuff, went into the registry. I found the user names and deleted them there.  I deleted all but the "ADMIN" login in users, because it wouldn't let me delete it.

Rebooted and it still wanted a user. Still.

I could find no key that said autoadminlogon.

I had trouble with this before. Last time I took out the entire networking section and basically had to reload the damn thing.

It is in a cabinet in pieces. I can't connect it to the net.  It is basically a HDD and nothing else.  I can't believe there isn't some freaking switch for this.

I guess I'll reload it when I find a ##@!@# CD drive to hook up to it.

David actually made a good point, you need to check your Network settings and make sure you don't have "Client for Novell Networks" or "Microsoft Family Logon". I think "Client for Microsoft Networks" is okay. From memory once you login once a *.pwd file is created for the user so it should automatically login okay next time. Also make sure the user's password is set to nothing.

The Tweakui worked great! Thanks leapinlew!

I didn't understand how to install it, but once I figured that out it was a must have tool for Win98!
