hello I am very much a newb to this and I need help bad, I'm currently building my 1st cabinet and am currently working on the software, I have worked with the Mame32 GUI extensively however I have barely used the command line version of Mame and here is the issue that I am having. I currently have Mamewah V.97 (configured via the mamewah-setup program), and am currently trying to configure it with Mame. I can get all of my games to work in Mamewah EXCEPT for my Capcom fighting games. This list includes Marvel Vs Capcom, Marvel Superheroes, and X-men vs Street Fighter. These games work fine when loaded with Mame32 however when I load them in Mamewah the game will go to the load screen and upon reaching 100% the screen will turn black and Mamewah will freeze. Leading to me having to shut Mamewah off in the task manager window. Here is the current software that I am using Mame32 V108 (used to test games to make sure that they work). Mame: V108 (version found in the whats new text file) and to run mamewah with Mamewah V97, (configured via the mamewah-setup program found online Again any help would be appreciated. |

First start with the obvious. Make sure your romsets match the version of MAME. Remember, all of these roms depend on the parent rom (mvsc) being correctly checked by MAME. If your version of MAME does not match the version the rom was intended for, straight away you could buggered. As it happens, I have had a similar problem, and I may have to re-download some roms to make sure none of them are corrupt. Secondly, I think there may be a problem between colour depth settings/resolutions my monitor can display and the resolution these games require. The reason I suspect this is because when I was setting up MAMEWAH on another PC and monitor, I copied the settings over from my other PC exactly. What I didn't realise is that I had cetain MAMEWAH layouts in 32-bit colour and other in 16-bit colour. What happened is that when I skipped to a layout in 32-bit colour, it displayed for a few seconds, then closed the the program. It turned out that this monitor could only display up to 24-bit colour. After changing the layouts to 16-bit colour, it was fine. I've not tried it yet, but I suspect it may be similar for these games. As you can specify the default resolution for all games in a particular emulator in MAMEWAH, you may be over-riding MAME's preferred setting for that particular game. It seems to pass the rom-check OK, so it probably gets to the 'loaded' point and crashes MAME, returning you to MAMEWAH. I can't tell as it happens so fast, but this is probably what happens. Try and check this and resolve it. If you do, let me know! |

Samshaw, I got the games to work but only after downloading certain patches (japanese for M vs Cap), and the US patch for Xmen vs SF), and thoughts on why it would work under one version and not the other. Also everytime I refresh my gamelist in mamewah it says that the roms come up missing and I have to remap the file. Any advice you can give. |
