nVidia Geforce2 s-vid TV Performance
sliperyslink:
Im planninng on converting my pc into a Mame cab and want to use 26" TV for an arcade screen, I've been looking at the nVIdia Geforce2 64MB MX400 AGP card, any comments on it's performance or other sugestions on vid cards would be greatly appreciated

I'm very happy with mine. I don't remember who made it. It was $75.00 at the local computer show. I've got it hooked up to a 56'' big screen. I'd be interested to hear how it looks with a tube tv. ;D

I would only buy it if the return policy is great.
why?
Well, NVidia doesn't make cards, other companies do. And every brand uses different brand TV-out chips. Some are great, some suck.
There is a utility that allows the full screen to be used on most NVidia TV chips out there (most, not all). This is because most of the cheap chips have some major troubles filling the screen.
All the ViVo (Video in - Video out) are good I hear.
Last, I'm hearing really good things about the Geforce4 4400 chips with the TV out. But you would expect excellent TV-out on a $400 card wouldn't you.
ATI is very cosistent and good (I hear to stay away from the XPert cards). But Daphne doesn't like it... sigh...

about Daphne w/ an ATI: resizing the video works for Dragon's Lair...but, other Daphne-supported games that use overlay (Cliff Hanger, etc) still will not work correctly.
They had put an ATI fix into the CVS, but last I knew it had been disabled or wasn't going to have long term support. The problem is w/ ATI's drivers, not Daphne.
So, long story short, Daphne is better w/ an nvidia card...
