Hi All, CAT5 cable is awesome to use for most control projects, because it is cheap, however, I need a cable that has 10-12 individual wires (in other words 5-6 pairs). Is there anywhere where one could obtain this? (I only need small quantities - approx 30ft). Do any of you have 30-odd feet of this type of cable you would be willing to sell? |

The cables here are kinda pricy, but you can find what you're looking for here: www.cables.com |

Not so sure you'd find a 30' length of this 'easly' but, an old LPT printer cable is a great source for a multi wire harness, just chop off the ends and start strippin'. I 've seen em in a local surplus store bargin bins a couple years ago for like a couple of bucks, not sure on the length but am positive they were well in excess of 18-20'. The store was called American Science and Surplus, I'm almost sure they have a website. Sorry but I don't know it. Could find their phone number if you need it. |

Does the cable have to be round or shielded, ribbon cable is cheap and you can buy it in any lenth at electronics stores |

I do, I do! I'd have to roll it out to see how much I have. I would like to keep a small portion of it, but you could have the majority for sure. I have no clue what the price of this stuff is, so let me know what it is worth to you. I'll measure it out tonight if I get a chance. |
