Howard_Casto:
What in particular are you using a+ for?  I Ask because newer versions of mame have a lot of a+'s functionality, including multiple mice support.

Well, 1-2 years ago, it was the only thing that would support dual trackballs, dual spinners in XP.  Is this not the case anymore? What is available NOW that would work?  Would I have to get all new roms for this?
Thanks
Howard_Casto:
I don't know the exact release, but I think it was around .105 that dual mice were added.

You might have to update your roms, yes.

I download NoNameMame to a new folder. Then, can I just run it?  Or is there any configuring I have to do?
Any specifics you can give would certainly help me out.
Thanks!

Basically the same as any mame build (well, I'm not sure NoName includes all the default folders.

I would get a copy of mame from about the same version: http://www.mame.net/zips/mame082b.zip

Extract it so it creates all your default folders, delete mame.exe, replace it with the .exe from noname.

Run mame -cc.

Copy your roms, samples and artwork over.

Then you need to edit mame.ini to set up dual trackball support.

As Howard said, around 0.105 or so, dual mouse support was added, but the input system has totally changed, so you don't set them up the way you did before (I haven't gotten that far into it yet).

And as I said earlier, probably 2/3rd's of your current roms will need updating.  ClrMAME can help you with that.
