if you want to program the x-arcade, then you have to have a keyboard attached.

i have found that the x-arcade functions better through ps2 than it does through usb.   on usb, if i hold down a stick or button for a long time, after about 5 seconds, it stops workign and i have to let go and hold it again, it doesnt have this problem on ps2

I just got home and tried it with the ps2 connection, and it still won't recognize it.  Its kind of disappointing, if anyone else has suggestions I'd appreciate it. I've emailed xarcade but that will probably take a few days.

I was having a similar issue. Not only did I have to use a PS2, I had to use a different PS2 keyboard. My original one was a compaq keyboard and for whatever reason - the x-arcade didn't like it.

Mine did that when I tried to cheap out with a PS/2-USB adapter;  You need the official USB adapter (or equivalent) to register a constant keypress such as a joystick direction.

i bought the usb adaptor from xgaming when i purchased my x-arcade.  but they just sent me some generic ps2 to usb adaptor....i dont know if they have improved anything now, but when i bought mine a few years ago, thats what they sent.
