custom metal fabrication... over the internet?

krick:

I seem to remember seeing a link posted here a few months ago for a place online that will custom manufacture things (sheet metal, plastic, etc...) to your specs in very small runs.

I need to get some metal plates cut and drilled and I'm not really sure where I could get something like that done locally so I'm turing to the internet.

emachineshop.com has a CAD program you can download and get automated quotes for whatever you can muster.  Stuff is really spency for single runs though, so I'm not sure if that is the one you heard about or not.

Fozzy The Bear:

You'd be better off looking in Yellow Pages for a local machine shop that does small runs and one off items.  The company's on the internet that quote that stuff are really really expensive.

I'm needing a piece of sheet metal cut and I called 2 places about a week ago.  Neither have called me back yet.  So if you go local, be ready to deal with a bit of rejection.

I found this:  http://www.sharewareconnection.com/emachineshop.htm

It might be worth a try.
