Opening a coin door without the keys?

eastbayarb:

I just bought a showcase arcade cab and the guy that sold it to me doesn't have the keys to the coin door any more.

Is there a way to open it up? I wanna eventually take the coin mechs out and transform the control panel stand into a 2 shelf storage cabinet (hopefully to house my PC, xbox, and ps2). But of course, I will keep the coin door but make a door out of the entire front (to make it still look like an arcade).

thanx!

Oh, and here's a picture of the control panel/coin door.

loadman:

If You can get into it from the back (somehow??   ??? ) then you can easily remove the lock without damaging the nice front panel

Brax:

From the inside, undo the bolt that holds the locking arm; remove it. Open the door.

Texasmame:

If, for some odd reason, there is no access from the back, just use a titanium (gold color) drill bit and drill out the locking cylinder.  That can be replaced for a few bucks at the Home Depot.

MaximRecoil:

That's a cheap lock. If you have to drill it you don't even need a special bit, any bit for metal will do. Take your time though, stopping to allow things to cool off periodically, because things will get hot fast.
