Lo 1st post so noobish :)

I am looking for help with the following itams that i have and wondering what to do. 1st i grew up dreaming of owning a SF2 cabinet, now i do but have some issues.

I have a SF2 cabinet with game and busted Hanatrex MTC 9000 (not exactly sure if its busted or not it flashes in all corners then nothing once i saw a rom loading screen then flashes and then nothing).

I hear sound and thats it nothing no the picture on the screen, that is what i have not working.

I got a broken Sony Trinitron tv that will fit in 21" but sound doesnt work, im trying to get an Xbox and maybe put a Hard Drive in it and get Mame onto it with the Dual Xarcade controllers mounted to front of cab. Problem is im very poor with little ones to feed :)

So here is quandry, do i go with the Xbox and just have a cab to play it on?
Do i try get the tv working from the Jamma game?
Afaik i know all the buttons on the cab work ie stick and buttons so with a budget in mind im not sure what to do, the cab needs some love and cleaning but other than that its a solid cabinet.

What do you guys think i should do?

i found a site linked from here that sold a sort of jamma to tv thing not supergun thats too expensive for one game, was something else a US site but i cant find it anymore.

Thanks

If you are looking to play Street Fighter 2 just pickup a decent used computer and run Mame in it.  Just make sure the video card can support the tv you have.  If the SF2 board is still good package it up and set it aside so when the time comes and you have more money you can reinstall it if you want to with a new arcade monitor (if you want it to be a dedicated SF2 running off the original hardware).

At this point in time the computer will handle your audio problem through a set of computer speakers (you can hack these into the ones already in the cab), you can play SF2 as well as just about everyother fighter out there.

Look at the examples page to get some ideas of what other have done.
ArtMAME:
XBOX is made to display on a regular TV, not an arcade monitor.  If you try to fix the monitor from the game, it will be difficult or impossible to display the XBOX on it.

You can display a PC with MAME on an arcade monitor, but that requires a bit of advanced knowledge and experience.  Also requires a special video card (ArcadeVGA from Ultimarc) or a regular video card with some special drivers and some advanced tweaking.

Your most economical solution would probably be to put a TV in there since you already have it.  You can then display a PC with games or an XBOX on it.

If you already have a PC, use that with a pair of PC speakers.

I picked up a cabinet with a broken monitor.  I did not want to wait to fix the monitor or to get a new one so I put a 27" TV in there and ran MAME off a PC that I had already.

Now I can play the original game plus all the other games I have on the PC.  I took out the original board, power supply, monitor, harness, etc.  and stored them in case I wanted to restore it to the original game after I fix the monitor.

First I just put some PC speakers inside.  Later, I took them out and hacked some other PC speakers to the original speaker in the cabinet.

I am very happy with the way it turned out.  Very easy to do.

Good luck
