How do you install a dedicated pause to a Jpac do you have recode using the programming utility, how hard is this to mess up it the exsisting button confiquration that you want to leave the same

if it's for mame, you can simply hold down the start button and push down on the player 1 joystick...hope that helps

Thanks i knew about that, ive got a button already in place going spare so was trying to find some use for it

I think it would be easier to just use whatever unused key on the JPAC you choose and then remap the 'pause' key in MAME to that key.

I just wired it to the JPAC's "extra" button inputs and then remapped MAME to use it as the Pause key.
NO MORE!!

I used a diagram I found somewhere using diodes to make one button act as a shift function (looking for the one I used now)
This isn't the exact one I used, but may give you an idea on how it's done:
