RomSet folders?

MPTech:

Sorry to sound like a newbie. I've had these for months, but setup my MAME & Pinball and just never looked at them before!!   (It's hard to play thousands of MAME games, but I'm up to the challenge!)

In my NES_SNES3 romset. I have subfolders for GoodSNES [2.04] and GoodSPC [2.01] also within a subset of the NES folder I also have Famicon Disk System, GoodNES [2.01], and TOSEC.

In my SEGA set, I have GoodGEN [2.05], GoodGG [2.01], and GoodSMS [2.01].

What are these designations?  Where can I get an explantion of these folders and what emus to use for them?

MPTech:

Did I ask an inappropriate question or just too stupid?

Could  really use some help or a link.  thanks again.

missioncontrol:

For your NES roms you will ned a NES emulator

I questioned a fe other forums a few weeks ago and  Nestopia  or  FCE Ultra are the popular choices...

I havn't played around with both enough to decide which I like better so you may want to try them both

MPTech:

What are the different subfolders for?
(IE: GoodSPC [2.01] also within a subset of the NES folder I also have Famicon Disk System, GoodNES [2.01], and TOSEC.)

I'm assuming I'd use the NES Emu for GoodNES, what about the others?

Same goes for the SEGA folder.

pointdablame:

They are different system and set designations.

The [2.xx] part is the version of GoodTools used I believe, or the dat file used.  It designates what "version" of the roms is included in the set.  I'm not 100% sure on that part, but it does designate the roms in some way.

the "Goodxxx" part designates the system.

GoodGEN is Genesis
GoodGG is Game Gear
GoodSMS is Sega Master System
GoodSNES is Super Nintendo
GoodNES is Nes

Famicom is the japanese name for the NES, so your famicom set may be the JP releases of NES games.

TOSEC is a newer naming convention similar to GoodTools.
